Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has stated that Conor Gallagher will not be returning to the club from Chelsea this summer.
Last season, the midfielder had an outstanding loan spell with the Eagles in the Premier League, scoring eight goals and registering three assists in 34 league appearances under the Arsenal legend.
Because of his form, England manager Gareth Southgate gave the 22-year-old his senior international debut in November, and he has since made three more appearances for his country.
Many fans were excited to see the midfielder return to Selhurst Park ahead of the new season after being named the Palace fans’ player of the year for the 2021-22 season.
Gallagher, on the other hand, has been a regular under Thomas Tuchel in pre-season for Chelsea, and Vieira has ruled out the possibility of him returning as things stand.
Vieira responded to a question about Gallagher’s future by saying, “At the moment, I don’t think there is any chance because he is a Chelsea player.”
“He did fantastically well for us, but he is in pre-season with Chelsea and honestly we wish him all the best. I don’t think there is a way to get him back.”
Vieira oversaw an impressive debut season as Palace manager last season, and has since added Lens midfielder Cheick Doucoure, West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, and Derby County winger Malcolm Ebiowei during the summer transfer window.
