West Ham agree £30.5m deal for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca

West Ham have agreed to pay £30.5 million for Sassuolo and Italy striker Gianluca Scamacca

The 23-year-old Italy striker is set to become West Ham’s fourth senior signing of the summer, with personal terms still to be finalized.

Hammers manager David Moyes has spent the offseason trying to bolster his attacking options, and he has been in talks with Chelsea’s Armando Broja.

With 16 goals in 36 games last season, Scamacca was the second-highest Italian scorer in Serie A.

He was given his international debut in September of last year and has since won seven caps without scoring.

Scamacca’s arrival would follow the arrivals of Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, and Flynn Downes this summer.

Jesse Lingard, who scored nine goals in 16 Premier League starts for David Moyes’ side while on loan from Manchester United in 2020-21, was also offered a contract by the Hammers.

However, the England forward, 29, has decided to join promoted Nottingham Forest on a free transfer after his contract with United expired.
